Why B. Simone is the Breakout Star, We Need Right Now
By Tessa Owens
Comedian Braelyn Simone, B. Simone, the Wild N' Out breakout star, has landed her first starring role in a new half-hour comedy series, "Finding Happy." She has gone from IG TV star to Bounce TV.
The 32-year-old Texas native has been making a name for herself. B. Simone relocated from Dallas, Texas, to Atlanta, Ga, when she appeared on BET's 106 & Park in the final days and starred as DC Young Fly's leading lady in Sundance selection "digitallivesmatter." She has both headlined her own shows and has appeared as a guest on many shows of other prominent comedians like Mike Epps. B. Simone is also the CEO of B.Simone Beauty, a vegan, and cruelty-free makeup brand. In B. Simone's promising music career, she released her first extended play, Lost Soul, in 2014. Since then, she has released several songs, including The Box Freestyle, Wet Jewels, Million Dollar Freestyle, Mixed Feelings, and Blueberry Rain.
B. Simone is unapologetically herself, which is what we need right now. She is funny, relatable, and authentic. With a strong social media following, B. Simone has built a solid fan base that is excited to see her on television. Her stand-up impromptu comedy performances are unfiltered, realistic, and relatable, which is what we love about her. She keeps it real and doesn't hold back, which is something that we need in Hollywood right now.
The Wild N' Out star will be starring as Yaz Carter, who's unhappy with life in Atlanta. Besides an unfulfilling career in radio, her family, who are loving, aren't the easiest to deal with. Her love life is also shambles because good men in Atlanta are scarce. At the end of the ten episodes, Carter will see that she is the only one that can make her happy. This show is filled with a fantastic cast. For instance, Kim Coles of "Living Single" plays Carter's aunt, and the infamous Clifton Powell plays Carter's father, Raymond. B. Simone's raw talent and comedic timing make her the perfect person to lead this new show.
"What's fabulous about this show is that it stars an African American woman who is strong, single, successful, and unapologetically Black," Harrison said. "Whether you're 20 or 60, everyone can find something to like about this show." Viewers will watch Simone grow as an actress throughout the season. Cheryle Harrison, the head of Bounce television, said Finding Happy could relate to Black folks of any age range.
"Finding Happy" is produced by Queen Latifah's Flavor Unit Entertainment and written by Erica Montolfo, who serves as supervising producer. Nicole Jefferson Asher and Latifah serve as executive producers. Shooting for the series began last month in Atlanta and will premiere this fall on Bounce TV.
"Finding Happy" will air Wednesdays at 9 p.m. starting April 28 on Bounce TV. Bounce TV is a television network available in over 90 million households. It is geared towards African Americans aged 25-54 and airs original programming and movies, and sports events.
We are so excited to see B. Simone in her new role as Yaz Carter in Finding Happy! This new comedy series will surely be a hit with viewers of all ages thanks to its relatable main character and talented cast. Be sure to tune in this fall when it premieres! We are so excited to see B. Simone shines in this new role; we know she will make us laugh while keeping it real. Be sure to tune in to Finding Happy when it premieres on Bounce TV!
