In a night filled with inspiration and hope, Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) celebrated its next generation of leaders by naming Nico F. the 2024-2025 National Youth of the Year. This prestigious honor, which highlights the incredible achievements of young leaders across the country, was awarded during a star-studded event held at the Coca-Cola Roxy in Atlanta, the city where BGCA’s national headquarters is located.
Sponsored by Toyota North America and Kohl’s, the evening was more than just a ceremony; it was a celebration of the power of community, mentorship, and the potential of youth. As the newest National Youth of the Year, Nico will receive a $50,000 college scholarship along with a host of gifts and life-changing experiences from BGCA’s valued partners.

We’re thrilled to have Nico as our new National Youth of the Year,” he said.
Nico F.’s journey with Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Florida began more than four years ago, and during this time, he has left a lasting legacy through his dedication, leadership, and service. Nico quickly became known as a standout leader, taking on numerous volunteer roles, tutoring younger members, and organizing community projects that benefited both the Club and his local neighborhood. His deep commitment to service didn’t go unnoticed, and he became a role model not just for his peers, but for the Club’s staff and the broader community.
One of Nico’s proudest accomplishments came in 2020 when he was awarded the title of “Mr. Boys & Girls Club,” an honor that recognized his consistent positive influence and the numerous contributions he had made to better his community. A highlight of the evening was the announcement of a $1 million donation to BGCA from Major League Baseball (MLB) All-Star Alex Rodriguez. This generous contribution will help support BGCA’s mission and ensure that more young people across the country have access to the life-changing programs offered by the Boys & Girls Clubs.
The event attracted a host of prominent figures who have long supported Boys & Girls Clubs, including BGCA National Spokesperson Denzel Washington. Washington, an alumnus of the Boys & Girls Clubs, exemplifies the transformative power of the organization, often attributing much of his success to the mentorship and guidance he received at his local Club during his formative years.
Other notable attendees included actor JB Smoove, New Edition’s Ronnie DeVoe, MLB star Alex Rodriguez, former NFL player and philanthropist Cam Newton, WWE Superstars Xavier Woods, Kofi Kingston, and Naomi, as well as NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley. Their presence at the event emphasized the broad influence of the Boys & Girls Clubs and highlighted the importance of influential figures advocating for and supporting the next generation of leaders.
