“Strange Love” Red Carpet Premiere featuring Kountry Wayne

“STRANGE LOVE”  red carpet movie premiere was held in Atlanta, Ga., on Monday, February 13.  Not only was the red carpet rolled out, but the laughs as well. “ Strange Love” is a movie filled with comedy, horror, and lots of drama.  The movie addresses everyday topics like love, trust, betrayal, and death.  Well, to be more specific-ghosts.  If you’ve never heard of a movie containing the combination of these elements all in one setting- wait no further.  The plot is based upon the marriage and upheaval journey between a young married couple dealing with typical married people's issues.  In actuality, nothing is off limits; except for sex- when it comes to the marital problems that the couple experiences. Executive Producer Wayne Colley (Kountry Wayne) paints a vivid and realistic picture of relationships and everyday life in this star-studded film. The movie star Wayne Colley plays himself, Deshawn, alongside Marquita Goings (Cooking up Christmas), who plays the role of Megan- Deshawn’s wife.

Wanting a new lease on life to accompany their marriage, Deshawn and Marquita decide to purchase a dilapidated house with the expectations of renovating it to become their dream home, all the while with the hopes of “renovating” and salvaging their marriage.  Unbeknownst to what they signed up for, Deshawn’s and Megan’s love is tested as secrets lurking inside the home begin to surface.

Unable to turn calamity into victory- including their love and marriage, the young couple grows distant and ultimately separate.  Left alone and unattended- Deshawn’s manly cravings begin to intensify.  As a result, his appetite is eventually fulfilled beyond measure by Candice, an irresistible and attentive ghost. Candice exceeds Deshawn’s expectations by cooking, cleaning, and “maintaining” the home.  Deshawn is made to feel like a king…but at what cost? The horrific comedy will have viewers holding their stomachs from painful laughter while trying to figure out if Deshawn can save his marriage with Megan or choose to keep the “Strange Love" between him and Candice.

Lesson Learned

Much can be said about the subliminal messages and life lessons derived from the film's takes.  Deshawn and Megan's experiences are an important reminder that there are risks associated with personal and business relationships.  Whether investing in a new relationship or buying property, we must understand the risks involved to make prudent decisions.  By doing so, we are not only able to protect ourselves but also circumvent unnecessary heartache, pain, and financial duress.  Noteworthy of mentioning- always do thorough research on anything AND anyone that you’re considering to become invested.No one person or thing should be considered exempt from the process.

After the Show

After the movie premiere, the cast made themselves available for questions and answers to the audience.  In a laid-back and “Atlanta style” atmosphere, candid conversations took place wherein Kountry Wayne and cast members were open and honest about the making of the film and their expectations of the movie being received by viewers.  It was fascinating to hear their perspective and insights on the movie's making and “what it was like to work on such an important project.”  Kountry Wayne expressed his desire for Atlanta to become the next Hollywood by taking over the film industry- mentioning the talented Tyler Perry.  

The Q&A session enlightened my knowledge about the “making of the movie” and provided insight into the producer and everyone involved.  Although the movie is filled with comedy, the movie provides relatable and teachable moments that we all can utilize as life lessons.

Also, starring is the beautiful Rolonda Rochelle ( Big Fifty - The Delhronda Hood Story) as Dr. Stephanie Taylor, Carl Anthony Payne II  ( The Cosby Show) as Raymond Talbert, and Ms. Juicy (Little Women Atlanta) as Lindsey the Ghost.

So, if you're looking for a romantic comedy, with a bit of strangeness - or if you’re  unsure about what to watch- but need a laugh-  (and who isn't these days?), this movie is for you! Better yet- if you’re in the market looking to purchase a home- this is also a MUST-SEE!  This movie will have you laughing from start to finish. With a cast as great and talented as this, you can expect to see quality and production values at their finest. The movie bought reality and relativity together with a twist of strangeness that could only be imagined.
