Private Screening to Take Place on January 11, 2025, at NCG Cinemas Brookhaven

Atlanta, GA – The debut project for start-up film company ‘Iron Flower Films’ short film ‘Oxtail & Anime’ will host a private screening on January 11, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at NCG Cinemas Brookhaven in Atlanta, Georgia. Created with the mission to raise awareness on the critical issues of heart health and emotional intelligence within the minority community, The project offers a compelling narrative that merges love & humor along with urgent health messages.

The directorial debut of Donel Fernandes, Oxtail & Anime, weaves the story of a  beautifully spirited barista (Jayla Martin, played by Shantay Henry) that brews her last cup of coffee as she suddenly suffers a medical emergency due to a  heart condition that leaves her loved ones and co-workers in a frenzy. Oxtail  &Anime will also show an easily irritable coffee shop owner (Myles Grant, played by Henok Solomon) navigating the pressures of his marriage, his profession and witnessing an employee suffer a medical episode. With heart disease disproportionately affecting minority populations, Oxtail & Anime provides a unique platform to spark conversation and inspire change.

The screening is an exclusive event designed to bring together Film & entertainment professionals , health advocates and social  influencers, all committed to addressing heart health disparities and fostering emotional intelligence in communities of color. The evening will also include a discussion panel featuring experts in film & entertainment, heart health and mental health advocacy .

"Oxtail & Anime" is more than just a film—it's a call to action,” says Donel Fernandes, the film's writer/ director. “We want to start a conversation about the importance of taking care of both our hearts and our minds. It’s time to destigmatize these conversations in our communities and empower people with the tools to live healthier, more balanced lives."
