ONE MusicFest 2022: Combining Music and Love all in the Name of Unity.
By Desiree Sandlin
One MusicFest will host its 3rd Annual Musicfest Festival on October 8 th and 9 th at Central Park, located at 395 Piedmont Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30308 in the Old Fourth Ward neighborhood of Atlanta, GA. This year’s two-day non-stop live, outdoor music concert’s goal is to promote unity through a culmination of love intertwined with urban music. Jason Carter, Founder of ONE
MusicFest, put his dream to work back in 2008 after realizing that there was a sense of urgency and desire to create a musical derivative that would bridge the gap in the lack of unity. Desiring a more progressive urban music festival; one that would comprise of hip-hop, reggae, R & B, and Afrobeats. His belief was that there was a “void in how festivals were being put together.” So, in 2010, Carter stepped out of faith and put his dream into action; thus, creating a multigenerational, multi-genre, musical platform.
Realizing the power and energy that resides in Atlanta, Carter knew that there would be no better place than the A, to bring his dream to fruition. Starting out in a parking lot, with only about a turnout of 2,000 for the first year, ONE MusicFest (OMF) has since grown to be over 50,000 plus in the audience. “Instead of looking for it I decided it is something we needed to create and what better city than Atlanta,” said Carter. Although it hasn’t been easy, as adversity is a first cousin of success, Carter explained in an exclusive interview with ATL+Plus Magazine, that his first six years were rough and that he lost a lot. However, with the inspiration of his wife and his team, he persevered and now is able to see the harvest and fruit of his labor. OMF has expanded its territory this year by utilizing Central Park, Renaissance Park, and the Civic Center to entertain their guest. Doubling in size, J. Carter stated, “We are super excited about this years line-up and new location. One thing we pride ourselves on is creating a diverse line-up that reflects the vast and beautiful breath of Black Music and Culture. We are also taking over the 4th Ward Area in Atlanta, GA, and increasing our footprint to four stages instead of three. ONE Musicfest 2022 will be our biggest year yet, but we still plan to keep the energy and vibrations intimate and comfortable;
The celebration will house four stages:
ONE Musicfest Stage
Toyota Sound Stage
Freedom Stage
Slutty Vegan Stage
Kicking off the OMF, ONEfluence Conference presented a night of culture, class, and conversation for Atlanta’s elite professionals to mingle in purposeful conversation on how to improve our culture. The kickoff took place on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, in the Fox Theatre’s Marquee Club, where none other than J. Carter himself was the special guest panelist. Topics included civic responsibility, cultural arts, evolution entertainment, dress code, and casual chic.
