You might remember CultureShock, launched by Collab, LLC back in 2019. The event celebrated the Black community in the tech ecosystem and more specifically – Atlanta’s key role in spearheading the progression of minority groups in tech.
People flocked to the event as it aligned with the SuperBowl weekend and generated funding and awareness towards their project. The raised funds were used for Atlanta’s local public schools and tech companies with African American entrepreneurship. This tech launch helped propel Collab, LLC into the spotlight.
Now, Collab is focusing its efforts on investors and helping the underserved communities by providing laptops and financial support. The emphasis of Collab’s efforts is to assist Black tech companies in sustainability and innovativeness. The goal is to bring together the efforts of successful Black entrepreneurs who have the capability of spreading awareness, support, and funds to start-up tech companies and those looking to dive into this world.
The three individuals who are working towards getting this idea up of the ground are all Atlanta community members including Jewel Burks Solomon, Justin Dawkins, and Barry Givens. One thing is becoming apparent – Atlanta is beginning to turn the tides of Silicon Valley to the South.
