The 2021 Music Midtown Festival had an unexpected turn of events but was a huge hit following cancellations due to the COVID-19 pandemic last year. Rain and humid weather couldn’t keep the performers and attendees from missing out on another fantastic year of music festivities and comradery.
The event – like similar ones that have recently been hosted in Atlanta – required attendees to show their vaccination cards or negative COVID-19 tests taken recently. Almost 50,000 attendees ended up at the event as musicians like Maroon 5 and the Jonas Brothers performed.
Piedmont Park hosted almost 20 hours of live music, bringing back an event that many people have missed out on – the act of witnessing live performances from some of their favorite musicians. Miley Cyrus had a large turnout of thousands of people as she performed for over an hour, bridging the songs of her past with those of the present and essentially showcasing her musical prowess in spanning multiple musical genres. Most musicians highlighted aspects of the pandemic and the power of live music that has been a missing component in many people’s lives. Hopefully with safety measures continually put in place, live music can start to flourish once more.
