Time is winding down for the Baltimore Ravens as quarterback Lamar Jackson is entering the last year of his rookie contract. It seems that neither the Ravens or Jackson have come to any type of agreement on renewing or if he will be traded.
On the other side of things, we have the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who also may be losing one of their shining stars—Tom Brady. Brady, referred to many as one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time spent his first 20 seasons with the New England Patriots, with 7 championships under his belt. Yes you read that right, 7! After much debate, a once ready to retire Brady, decided to come back for more, picking up a two year contract worth a cool $50 million with the Buccaneers in 2021. Well, here we are at nearly the end of that two year deal…what's going to be his next move?
As we sit on pins and needles and wait for the big decision, the idea of the Buccaneers acquiring Jackson in place of Brady is being thrown around. Jackson, at just 25 years old, has made a splash in the NFL since his signing with the Ravens; taking them to the playoffs three times out of his four seasons. He is also one of the youngest MVPs in NFL history. So it just makes sense that he would be an optimal choice for replacing Brady.
I mean, those are some huge cleats to fill, but who else would be more fitting. There just honestly aren’t any quarterbacks that would be able to come in and give the Buccaneers the kind of success that Brady has given.
We are coming to a close call, as week 1 is the deadline for contract negotiations. The world will be all ears and eyes as we await the news of perhaps one of the greatest trades in history—or contract renewals. The suspense is killing me!
After missing 11 days o f training camp due to "personal issues", which later was revealed that he and his family were in the Bahamas taking one last vacation before the start of the season, Tom Brady has been making headlines over the last few weeks; but not so much in a good way. Brady, at 45 years old, announced to the world in hat after 22 seasons, he would be making his exit from the game. Well, that lasted all of 40 days before he announced that he would be making his return to a new team-- The Buccaneers. Not only did he return, but Brady came back with a vengeance, taking the Buccaneers to Superbowl LV and winning. Talk about a hell of a come back!
But with that success came sacrifice and from the sounds of things, Brady's wife supermodel Gisele Bundchen isn't too happy with his decision to keep playing. The two married in 2009 and have two children together. The old saying more money, more problems seems to be ringing true. Brady's two year deal would have ended this season, but it looks like he has no plans on slowing down as he has returned to the team after a brief absence. Brady has been very open about his struggles in his marriage and how unhappy his wife is with his lack of team work in the home.
The money def isn't the issue as Gisele brings in an annual salary of $40 million, with a networth of $400 million; while Brady has a networth of $250 million. In a past interview, Brady states that his wife wants him to be more involved with the children, take them to school, and help out around the house.
Only time will tell how this battle plays out, my guess is that Bradys' love for the game keeps him coming back for more. If he does indeed retire for good, what's next for him and the future of the Buccaneers. Guess we will be waiting at this drama plays out. Good luck Tom!
