Kasim Reed announced he will run for mayor again.

Kasim Reed is doing it once more. Applications and paperwork are already submitted as Reed announces his historic decision to run for Atlanta’s Mayor for a third term. This time, Reed is going to have his work cut out for him as he battles against other Councilmembers and highly qualified individuals.

All candidates are going to face unique challenges to appeal to constituents regarding the COVID-19 pandemic and various economic and social challenges that have arisen during that time frame. Atlanta has also been notorious for having high rates of socioeconomic inequality and rising crime rates; these issues will continue to be brought up in debated solutions between the candidates.

Reed’s time in the spotlight has seen the highest of highs by constructing the Mercedes Benz Stadium, reconstructing pensions, selling public land, and boosting the tech and music industry. However, he has also dealt with federal investigations, lucrative spending of taxpayer dollars, and other ethical concerns. Either way, Reed will have to fine tune his public speaking and political stances as he gears up against critics.

Even with Reed’s rollercoaster path in the spotlight, his rapport with citizens has gained momentum in his time in office and has helped bring Atlanta notoriety from the Super Bowl and other mainstream pop culture avenues to make their base.
