Fans of Kanye West are used to missed deadlines, late appearances, and last-minute releases. This should come as no surprise that Kanye’s second listening party for his new album “Donda” was given in replace of the actual release. In fact, the album was expected to be released on July 23, but nothing has transpired.
Instead, Kanye lived in Mercedes Benz stadium for another two weeks and instead of strolling out in a red jumpsuit, viewers watched a West, dressed all in black with DONDA emblazoned on his vest, make his way onto the stage once again. The buzzing energy was as palpable as ever.
Kanye drew on his fashion tastes from the designer Gvasalia, along with his humble living quarters for the past two weeks, to set the stage for his second listening party. This time, West was joined by other dancers in a more collaborative effort to combine fashion, art, and music into one.
West was able to join in the agony of losing his family, including the famed divorce from Kim Kardashian, in an extravagant stage display. In a very Kanye fashion, the concert concluded with him rising off the floor in a feel of Christ-like resurrection. This second watch party felt more engaging and concert-like than the previous one, but as always – Kanye leaves everyone asking more questions rather than finding more answers.
