Kaisha Smith: Championing Empowerment and Financial Literacy

Kaisha Smith, a seasoned professional with a dual Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance from Georgia State University and dual Master’s degrees in Business Administration and Accountancy from Mercer University, has emerged as one of the most influential women in Metro Atlanta. As the CEO and Founder of K Smith Company, she has not only built a successful business but has also dedicated herself to empowering women and promoting financial literacy in her community.

Smith’s journey into the world of accounting was inspired by early exposure to the field through her godmothers, both CPAs. After securing an internship during college, she became captivated by the intricacies of accounting. Over the years, she gained invaluable experience in public accounting, government accounting at the Center for Disease Control, and corporate accounting at Fortune 500 companies. In 2018, she founded K Smith Company, specializing in outsourced-CFO solutions for small businesses, an area she found to be her “sweet spot.”

Despite facing challenges such as racial discrimination and corporate politics, Smith refused to be deterred. Instead, she founded her own company to create an environment where hard work directly correlated with reward. Her dedication and consistency have propelled her to become a trailblazer in her industry.

Recognizing the importance of mentorship, Smith emphasizes its role in fostering the success of women in leadership positions. She credits her mentors for helping her navigate challenges and develop professionally. In turn, she actively contributes to mentorship initiatives, paying it forward to aspiring women leaders.

Smith acknowledges the struggle to achieve work-life balance but advises women to be intentional in their choices and prioritize what brings them peace. She believes that balance is unique to each individual and evolves over time.

Passionate about empowering women, Smith is involved in various initiatives and projects aimed at uplifting women in Atlanta and beyond. She is preparing to launch Healing In My Heels, Inc., a nonprofit focused on mental health initiatives for women. Additionally, she serves as the CFO of Ladies Who Golf ATL, promoting confidence and sisterhood among women in a male-dominated sport.

Smith’s leadership style was significantly shaped by pivotal moments in her career, such as the Covid-19 pandemic, where she witnessed the impact of her work in ensuring the survival of her clients’ businesses.

To stay innovative and adapt to emerging trends, Smith emphasizes the importance of continuous learning and surrounding herself with like-minded individuals. She remains committed to making a positive impact by promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in her industry and the broader community.

Smith aims to lead initiatives that promote financial literacy, particularly among youth, and continue her community outreach efforts through Healing In My Heels, Inc. Her vision is to empower individuals to achieve financial independence and success, leaving a lasting legacy of empowerment and resilience in her community and beyond.
