Atlanta is making another professional statement in the nation as the Atlanta Falcons are now the only team in the NFL who have vaccinated all of their players. Back in July, the Falcons were already doing fairly well with a 92% vaccination but have since reached a 100% vaccination rate. This update is given just moments before the NFL is set to start back up in a few weeks.
The NFL commission came out with a statement to encourage players to be vaccinated as teams and players will not be paid and games won’t be rescheduled for COVID-19 outbreaks caused by unvaccinated players. While Atlanta leads the league in COVID-19 vaccine rates, another 15 teams are around 95% vaccinated. The WNBA leads the professional sports industry with a 99% vaccination amongst its players.
The Atlanta Falcon’s organization says that since all of their players are fully vaccinated, they will be able to intermingle without precautions such as mask mandates, testing, or quarantine. The NFL organization is going to continue to encourage every player to get vaccinated prior to the opening day on September 9th to avoid cancellations this season and help curb the spread of COVID-19.
