Atlanta Black Pride is in for a historic year, as it celebrates its 25th anniversary over Labor Day weekend. The event has decided to span two days, instead of its usually scheduled one-day event. Atlanta has a rich history of Black and LBTQ culture that is in full celebration during this event. Attendees will have a chance to celebrate as a community through old and new signature events including film festivals, workshops, and even a DJ battle.
Atlanta’s Pride differs from others throughout the country; its grounds were set on providing a safe haven for LGBTQ members who were a part of the Black community to provide awareness towards other minority groups. The event has been a success in the past but was limited in 2020. After reorganizing the Pride festival, Atlanta’s Black Pride has come back even stronger.
Keep in mind, the event is following pandemic restrictions and only a limited amount of people will be able to attend the fashion show and other indoor events. Additionally, the historic event will now include COVID-19 and HIV testing in Central Park to promote the health and safety.
