565 Metro Atlanta Businesses Receive $246 Million from SBA

Atlanta’s small businesses are receiving some much needed relief following the detrimental impact COVID-19 had on the local economy. Congresswoman Nikema Williams was an important figure in helping pass the American Rescue Plan to save small businesses, restaurants, and arts venues.

How will this money be distributed, and who is impacted? Over 500 small businesses received almost a quarter of a million dollars, 488 restaurants received almost 200 million dollars, and another 58 million was distributed to arts venues. Williams is hoping to target businesses that were hit the hardest during the pandemic with the hopes to prop up the local economy as COVID-19 continues to run rampant across the country with the new Delta variant.

All these businesses were located in the Fifth District where many locals were hit hard when the economy plummeted. Williams is now spending time advocating for locals to look into the Small Business Administration bill to see if their businesses qualify for a relief fund. Hopefully, the relief bill has come with enough time for locals to budget their losses and gear up for whatever the future holds.
